Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Yakima, WA - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 97-90 (5, 2) to improve to 26-16 on the season. The 'Force increased their season-high winning streak to seven games and jumped over the Sun Kings for first place in the Western Conference. Yakama dropped to 27-16 with the loss and has lost three straight games at home.

With first place in the Western Conference standings within their reach, the 'Force knew they needed to take advantage of a vulnerable Sun Kings team that had lost their two previous home games. Both teams traded baskets most of the opening quarter until Yakama finally went ahead 21-16 with 2:25 to go in the opening quarter. Yakama would eventually win the first quarter 23-21. Sioux Falls bounced back to win the second quarter 29-21 and led 50-44 at halftime. The Sun Kings responded to win the third quarter 24-20 but Sioux Falls still led 70-68 after three quarters of play. The 'Force held a slim margin (85-82) with 3:34 to go in the game but made key plays down the stretch to pick up their fourth straight road win.

The Skyforce's next game is on Monday, February 27th, on the road against the Yakama Sun Kings. Tip-off is set for 9:05 pm CST at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
