Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Muskegon, MI - The Sioux Falls Skyforce lost to the Michigan Mayhem last night 86-82 (5.5, 1.5) to drop to 9-7 on the season. The 'Force had never lost (4-0) to the Mayhem coming into the game but could not remain undefeated against the second year franchise. The Mayhem improved to 3-11 with the home victory.

The 'Force was playing without the services of big man Brandon Hunter, who was in Houston for a tryout with the Rockets. He is averaging 23.9 ppg along with 11.9 rpg so everyone needed to chip in to make up for his absence. The Mayhem jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead and won the first quarter 29-25. The teams went basket for basket in the second quarter and ended up sharing the quarter-point as the teams each scored 20 points. The Mayhem led 49-45 at halftime. The 'Force finally took a lead (56-55) with just over 4:00 to go in the third quarter on a bucket from Rodney Buford. The "Force would lead after three quarter 66-61 along with winning the third quarter 24-17. The Mayhem would not go away as they were looking for a marquee win against the defending CBA champions. The Mayhem took the lead by three late in the game and the 'Force needed someone to hit a three-pointer to send it into overtime. Unfortunately Renaldo Major turned it over and the Mayhem hit one free throw to ice the game.

The Skyforce's next game is on Friday night on the road against the Gary Steelheads. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Genesis Convention Center.

Game Highlights:

SKYFORCE:

- Renaldo Major - 26 points, 9 rebounds

- Rodney Buford - 18 points, 7 rebounds

MAYHEM:

- Karlton Mims - 23 points, 6 assists

- Jamar Brown - 14 points, 7 assists
