Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford Lightning rookie center Kenyon Gamble has been suspended by the Continental Basketball Association league office for one game due to an altercation on Dec. 15 in a game against Albany.

Gamble, who leads the league in blocked shots with 39 total (2.8 average), will be suspended for Thursday night's game against the Michigan Mayhem. Gamble has started all but three games and appeared in 14 overall for the Lightning in his first season out of Tuskegee University. He was drafted in the second round of the 2005 CBA draft with the 14th overall selection by Rockford and has averaged 7.4 points and 6.4 rebounds this season. The 6-foot-11 center is on pace to block 131 shots in his rookie season, second to Mike Bell's 155 in the 1994-95 season for the single-season record by a Lightning player.

Donnie Boyce of the Albany Patroons was also suspended by the league for his part in the altercation on December 15. The Lightning won that game 111-96 over the Patroons, taking 6.0-quarter points in the process. Boyce was held out of the Patroons' 100-93 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Monday night.

The Lightning will finish up a six-game home stand tonight as they entertain Michigan for the third time this season. Tip off is set for 7:05 P.M. at the MetroCentre; kids tickets are half price, and all fans will receive a Roger Powell trading card. Group and season tickets can be purchased through the Lightning Office by calling 815-874-4232. Single game tickets can be purchased through the MetroCentre Box Office by calling 815-968-5222.
