Playoff Bound

With 2.5 quarter-points in Monday night's 100-92 (5.5, 1.5) victory on the road against the Yakama Sun Kings, the Sioux Falls Skyforce clinched a spot in the 2006 CBA Playoffs. The recent eight-game winning streak has also propelled the ‘Force into first place in the Western Conference standings. This will be the ‘Force's 10th postseason appearance in 17 seasons, with two seasons ending with CBA Championships (1996 & 2005).

Triple-Doubles

Corey Williams posted his second triple-double of the season this past Monday night as he had 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists. Earlier this season he had a triple-double against the Dakota Wizards as he had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Former ‘Force great Cedric Hunter holds the franchise record for most triple-doubles in a season with three during the 1993-94 campaign. Marlon Parmer (Rockford), Anthony Goldwire (Yakama), and Ronnie Fields (Rockford) are the only other players to record a triple-double in the CBA this season.

Coach of the Month

Sioux Falls Skyforce head coach Dave Joerger was named CBA Coach of the Month for the month of February this past week. He led Sioux Falls to a 9-1 record (90.0 pct.) during February, including its current season-best eight-game winning streak. Sioux Falls averaged 5.05 quarter points per game to push its way into first place in the Western Conference ahead of the Yakama Sun Kings. This is the ninth time in his CBA coaching career (five seasons) that he has been named Coach of the Month (seven times with the Dakota Wizards and twice with the Skyforce). Joerger is one victory away from his 150th CBA win, currently sitting at 149-78 (.656 pct.) for his career.
