Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Sioux Falls SD - The Austin Toros defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 130-127 in double overtime Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon in front of a raucous crowd of 3,230 fans. Sioux Falls used an explosive third quarter to regain the lead, but Austin battled the Skyforce evenly in the fourth quarter and overtime periods.

At the end of regulation, Austin turned the ball over with just under four seconds left, and Sioux Falls ran the other way with a fast break. Larry Drew II couldn't hit a contested layup and Tajuan Porter bounced a putback attempt off the rim, which preserved the tie and forced overtime.

Sioux Falls then trailed 120-117 with 10 seconds left in overtime, but a Henry Walker 3-pointer with three-tenths of a second remaining forced double overtime.

Double overtime started with Courtney Fells scoring seven quick points, and Charlie Westbrook and Dexter Pittman both pitched in free throws with less than a minute left to seal the victory for Austin.

Sioux Falls held the hot hand from behind the arc all night, shooting 47.2 percent on the way to a season-high 17 3-pointers. Six Skyforce players hit two or more threes, and Walker and DeAndre Liggins both hit a game-high four three-pointers.

All five starters scored in double figures for Sioux Falls (20-14) as they were led by Walker's game-high 29 points, Justin Hamilton's 25, and Liggins' 23. Drew recorded the only Skyforce double-double as he finished with 17 points and 14 assists. Sioux Falls scored a season-high 127 points in the contest.

Dexter Pittman led Austin (13-19) with 28 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Flip Murray finished with 26, and Charlie Westbrook came off the bench to score 24 points.

Sioux Falls visits Fort Wayne tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. CT. Austin hosts Santa Cruz Sunday at 3 p.m. CT.
