Skyforce Drops 131-128 Contest to Wolves in Final Minutes

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce were defeated 131-128 by the Iowa Wolves on Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon in the first of a back-to-back.
Iowa (7-17) outscored Sioux Falls (13-10) 40-33 in the opening quarter, as the Wolves shot 61.5 percent from deep (8-13 3PA). Craig Randall III netted 12 points on 4-5 3PA to pace Iowa.
The Skyforce responded in the second quarter, as they slashed an 18-point deficit and finished the frame on a 24-8 run. Miami HEAT assignee Ömer Yurtseven and two-way player Jamal Cain combined for 30 points on 11-15 FGA, nine rebounds and three assists in the half to help cut the deficit to 67-65 at intermission.
Sioux Falls shot 62.5 percent from the field (15-24 FGA) in the third quarter, as Jon Elmore guided the team with nine points on 3-5 3PA, three rebounds and three assists in the period. Elmore netted a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Force a 101-99 lead with 12 minutes remaining.
The Wolves would respond, as they went on a 20-8 run in the final 6:01 minutes to secure the victory. Emmanuel Mudiay scored 22 points on 9-13 FGA, five rebounds and four assists in the second half (12 points on 5-7 FGA in the fourth quarter) to help mount the comeback.
Yurtseven (10 rebounds and five assists) and Cain (eight rebounds) led the team with 27 points each to lead the Force. DJ Stewart had 23 points on 9-9 FGA and five rebounds, while Elmore chipped in 17 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and three steals to round out top scorers for Sioux Falls.
Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Wendell Moore, Jr. had 24 points on 7-16 FGA, while Randall III had 27 points on 10-18 FGA in the winning effort.
Both teams meet again tomorrow (Saturday) on Heritage Court at 7:00 PM CST.
