Boise, ID - The Sioux Falls Skyforce dropped a game tonight to the Idaho Stampede 113-106 (5, 2) to drop to 14-13 on the season. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak against the Idaho Stampede. Idaho improved to 14-11 and is in sole possession of second place with a 3.8 quarter-points average.
After losing in their first trip to Idaho back on November 30th, the 'Force had rattled off five straight wins against the Stampede. Idaho was determined to end the streak at home and built a double-digit lead (21-10) halfway through the opening quarter. The 'Force would battle back and won the first quarter 33-32 on two free throws from Rodney Buford with a few seconds remaining in the quarter. Idaho would bounce back and won the next two quarters 28-22 and 32-24 and went in to the final quarter leading 92-79. The Stampede led by as many as 17 points (96-79) early in the fourth quarter and appeared to be on their way to an easy victory. David Jackson made a three-pointer to give the Stampede a commanding 109-93 with just under 4:00 to go in the game and the 'Force appeared to be out of gas. However, they would respond with 11 unanswered points and trailed 109-104 with just under 2:00 to go in the game. That would be as close as the 'Force would get as Jermaine Boyette made a timely bucket to give the Stampede some breathing room. The 'Force would win the final quarter 27-21 and only picked up 3.0 quarter-points in two road losses.
The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, January 13th, at home against the Gary Steelheads. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
