
Skyforce Acquires Shane Richards

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired guard Shane Richards from the available player pool. Marquill Smith was waived in completing the transaction.
Richards, a 6-5, 195-pound guard out of Manhattan began his career as a professional with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers during the 2017-18 season. Richards appeared in 33 games (two starts) and averaged 6.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per contest. While with the Vipers, Richards also appeared in one NBA G League playoff game, scoring three points and collecting two rebounds in just under 11 minutes played.
Richards continued his career overseas during the 2018-19 season, appearing in 21 games (four starts) for Spojnia Stargard Szczecinski in the Polish Basketball League. While in Poland, Richards averaged 6.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.0 minutes per game.
In four years at Manhattan College, Richards appeared in 129 games (75 starts) and averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.0 percent from three-point range. He capped off his career with career-best numbers as a senior during the 2015-16 season, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists while starting in all 31 games played.
Richards earned a spot on the Skyforce training camp roster as a tryout player this season before being waived on November 7. He will be available for Sunday's home game against the Stockton Kings at 3:00 PM CT and will wear #23 in his return to Sioux Falls.
