Skycats Defeat Harlem in Home Opener

Mahwah, NJ— December 6, 2004 – Over five hundred basketball fans showed up at the Bill Bradley Center on Sunday night to see the New Jersey Skycats claw their way to victory in their home opener. The Skycats triumphed with a 79-75 win over the Harlem Revival making the first home game of the season a success.

The game got off to an exciting start and remained close throughout the first half. Although they were down by seven points at halftime the Skycats were able to pounce on every opportunity to get the lead during the third quarter. By three minutes into the third quarter with a couple of jump shots by Edmund Saunders and Omar Cooper the Skycats managed to tie the score. The game went on as each team jockeyed for the lead in a close game until Derick Washington hit a free throw in the fourth quarter putting the Skycats in the lead for good. In an exciting second half the Skycats managed to secure victory over the Revival tying the series at one a piece against their cross river rivals.

This triumph has the 2-2 Skycats charged up and ready for their next game. The Skycats will return to the Bill Bradley Center on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at 5 p.m. to host Philadelphia. The Skycats will then host two more home games this month on Dec.18 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. against Carolina and Mississippi respectively.
