Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Round Rock used the top of their order to control the tempo Tuesday night at Security Service Field and the end result was a 10-5 win against Colorado Springs.

Tomas Perez, Richard Paz, David Newhan and Reggie Abercrombie went a combined 10-for-17 with three walks, seven RBI and seven runs scored as Colorado Springs starting pitcher Victor Zambrano (0-5) continued his early-season struggles.

Zambrano was cruising into the fifth inning, allowing no runs at that point. But the wheels came off in a hurry as Zambrano allowed five Express batters to cross the plate in the fifth inning. The veteran right hander allowed four more runs to score in the next inning before being pulled in favor of Juan Morillo.

Ian Stewart added his seventh home run of the season in the eighth inning to break up the shutout, and the Sky Sox added four more runs in the ninth inning. But the nine-run deficit proved to be too much for the Sky Sox.

The Sky Sox and Express continue their series tomorrow at Security Service Field. Greg Reynolds (1-2, 5.17) looks to pick up his second victory of the season while the Express will throw Fernando Nieve (1-3, 5.28). The first pitch is scheduled for 10:35 A.M. MT.
