Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Tucson, AZ - The Sidewinders fell to the Nashville Sounds 4-1 on Tuesday night at Tucson Electric Park. The game was dominated by pitching as Tucson's starter Yusmerio Petit pitched five scoreless innings, giving up only four hits, striking out three batters and didn't walk anyone.

Sound's starter Jeff Weaver needed only 65 pitches to post seven scoreless innings of work to earn his first win of the season. The only damage against Weaver came in the sixth when Trent Oeltjen launched a solo shot for his first home run of the season.

The Sidewinder's reliever Abe Woody took over for Petit in the sixth giving up two runs on a Vinny Rottino RBI triple bringing in Hernan Iribarren and a wild pitch that brought in Rottino.

The Sounds added two more in the ninth when Branden Katin hit a 2-run bomb over center field for his fourth homerun of the season.

The Sidewinders will face the Nashville Sounds in the second game of their four game series starting at 6:30 PM on Wednesday night. LHP Evan MacLane (1-2, 7.45) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Left-hander Chris Narveson (1-4, 4.11) will start for the Sounds. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:15 p.m.
