Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Colorado Springs needed a comeback Tuesday to complete a four-game sweep of Fresno, winning 11-7 in front of 5,642 fans at Security Service Field.

Trailing 7-5 in the seventh, the Sky Sox put a four-spot on the board to take a two-run lead. Ian Stewart's sacrifice fly tied the game before Edwin Bellorin's run-scoring single gave the Sky Sox the lead for good. Chris Frey added an RBI triple to put the Sky Sox up two after seven.

Fresno tried to mount a comeback of their own in the eighth inning. Travis Ishikawa hit his first home run of the season, a lead-off blast off Micah Bowie that cut the lead in half. Matt Downs-already 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI - would eventually come to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded. But Steven Register was able to coax the Fresno infielder into a check-swing strikeout, ending the threat.

Colorado Springs padded their lead with a four-run eighth inning. Cory Sullivan led off with a triple and eventually came around to score on Jayson Nix's sacrifice fly. Bellorin capped the scoring with a two-run double.

Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision, though both pitched well. Glendon Rusch allowed four runs in six innings for the Sky Sox while Matt Palmer gave up three runs in five innings for the Grizzlies.

Alberto Arias (3-4) picked up the win after allowing one run in his one inning of work.

Erick Threets (1-3) took the loss after allowing one run in 0.1 innings.

Steven Register recorded his 12th save of the season.
