Skeeters Take Game Four, 5-2

SUGAR LAND, Texas - Bobby Livingston fired seven innings allowing five hits and two runs to give Sugar Land (18-25) their first win in franchise history over the visiting Somerset Patriots (20-24) Sunday night at Constellation Field.

Livingston (4-2) retired the first seven batters he faced before giving up a hit and then faced only 13 batters from the fourth to the seventh leaving the game in the hands of closer Gary Majewski (4) to finish the final two innings.

The top of the order for Sugar Land set the pace early off Patriots starter Justin Cassel. Bubba Bell led off the bottom of the first with a double, and in the next at-bat, Dominic Ramos singled him into give Sugar Land the lead, 1-0.

The Skeeters had to fight back midway through the game, though. The Patriots used a two-run third inning off Livingston with a one-out single from Yusuf Carter and an RBI-double from Dan DeGeorge to tie the game. The second run came off an RBI-single from Jonny Tucker to put the visitors ahead, 2-1.

Sugar Land tied it in the fifth on a double play ground out by Manny Mejia that scored Bell from third with the bases loaded, 2-2, and then took the lead in the seventh when the bases were loaded for the third time. Newest activated signing Jason Lane walked on a full count after battling back from two strikes to record his first RBI and give the Skeeters a 3-2 lead.

The home team added two insurance runs in the eighth on Ramos' second RBI-single and a Mejia RBI-single to increase the advantage, 5-2.

The Patriots used five pitchers in the game, but it was the first reliever, Andrew Dobies (0-1), who was tagged with his first loss of the season after leaving the game in the bottom of the seventh before the run was scored.

Skeeters Bites: Dominic Ramos and Bubba Bell both went 3-4...Ramos is now 5-14 in the series while Bell is 7-16...Ramos extended his hitting streak to 3 games...Mejia extended his hitting streak to 5 games. Game five of the six-game home stand starts tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Constellation Field.
