
Skeeters Fall to Bees 3-2 on Walkoff Wild Pitch

NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Sugar Land Skeeters were defeated by the New Britain Bees 3-2 on Friday night in the first game of a three-game set. With the loss, Sugar Land moves to 21-14 in the second half and still remain a half game up on York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Aaron Thompson finished the evening with another quality start after going six innings and giving up only one run on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Kyle Simon also had a respectable outing, giving up no runs over seven innings of work with four strikeouts.
Wilfredo Rodriguez put the Skeeters on the board in the 4th with a fielder's choice that scored Jeremy Barfield to put the Skeeters up 1-0. Craig Maddox tied it back up in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Greg Golson. James Skelton gave the Bees a lead in the 5th on a single to right that scored Jonathan Roof to put the Bees up 2-1. Ricky Hague tripled in the 6th and scored on an error, making it 2-2.
Dan Runzler's wild pitch to Anthony Hewitt in the 9th scored Jon Griffin to give the Bees a 3-2 victory.

The Skeeters will resume their series against New Britain tomorrow night at 6:35 CT at New Britain Stadium. RHP Sean Gallagher (7-6, 3.68 ERA) will face off against RHP Mike Lee (0-0, 11.25 ERA).
