BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Sugar Land Skeeters rallied in the 8th on Thursday night but couldn't outlast the Somerset Patriots as they lost 5-4 in walk-off fashion. The Skeeters are now 8-7 in the second half and tied with York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Bryan Lahair's single in the bottom of the 1st allowed Aharon Eggleston to score, giving Somerset an early 1-0 lead. Mycal Jones extended the Patriots' lead in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single that would score Scott Kelly, making it 2-0. Somerset would continue to extend their lead in the bottom of the 3rd after an error by Travis Scott would allow David Vidal to score to make it 3-0. Scott Kelly tacked on another run by driving in Brian Van Kirk to push it to 4-0.
Delwyn Young put the Skeeters on the board with an RBI single in the 4th that would score Ricky Hague to make it 4-1. With Young's 1-4 evening, he has now extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games. The Skeeters managed to rally in the 8th on a huge three-run triple from Ricky Hague that would tie the game up at 4-4. David Vidal would follow in the top of the 9th with a walk-off solo shot that would give the Patriots a 5-4 victory and split the series at two games apiece.
