San Angelo Colts News Release
Edinburg, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and starter Julio Castro baffled the Colts' bats in a 9-1 Edinburg romp Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners got on the board first, as they struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Antonio DeJesus led off the game with a double and scored on a base hit by Stantrel Smith. With one out Smith stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a fielder's choice.
San Angelo got one run back when Landon Camp (19) hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the second inning, his fourth in as many games. The Roadrunners would answer immediately though, when in the bottom of the inning, Jonathan Fernandez led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Daryl Jones error to make it 3-1.
The scored stayed that way until the sixth as Castro and Colts starter Ryan Riddle traded zeroes. In the bottom of the sixth the Roadrunners put the game away, scoring six times on seven hits off San Angelo reliever Corey Goudeau highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of R.J. Harris.
Castro (3-1, 2.62) started and earned the win for Edinburg after allowing only Camp's home run in seven innings. Riddle (1-3, 5.33) gave up three runs, two earned,ß in five innings, but took the loss.
