Amarillo Dillas News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas were in danger of dropping game three of their four-game series to the San Angelo Colts, but that was before a six-run seventh inning pushed them over the top for an 11-7 victory on Saturday night in front of 3,368 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Dillas reliever Albert Ayala (2-0) got the win, going two-and-a-third innings in relief of starter Justin Phillips. Colts reliever Chase Vacek (2-3) got the loss as he allowed four runs and four hits while recording only two outs.
Trent Lockwood started the scoring for the Dillas in the second inning with a leadoff homerun to right-center for a 1-0 Amarillo lead. San Angelo took the lead in the third as Nick Mahin tripled and scored on a Ronnie Gaines RBI single. Richard Paz followed with an RBI double and Selwyn Langaigne behind him had a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 Colts lead.
The Dillas responded with a run of their own in the third as Terrance McClain singled home Carlos Figueroa for a one-run deficit. San Angelo came right back with a run in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice to regain a two-run advantage. Amarillo again scored as Angel Reyes doubled to lead off and would score on an RBI double by Willie James for a 4-3 score in favor of the Colts.
After a wild pitch brought home another San Angelo run in the fifth, they added another on a Travis Calloway RBI double for a 6-3 Colts lead. The Dillas would push through in the sixth as Stantrel Smith singled home Angel Reyes and Justin Wenger for another one-run deficit at 6-5.
After a Jason Landreth homerun for the Colts in the seventh, the Dillas broke through for the lead. 11 batters came to the plate, as six runs and seven hits including an error gave the Dillas their first lead at 11-7.
Relievers Coby Mavroulis and Andy Noonan finished off the game to preserve the 11-7 win.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 39-31, while the Colts fall to 45-26. Sunday, Amarillo will host San Angelo for the final game of a four-game series at 6:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 5:55pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
