
Roadrunners defeat Broncos 5-0

EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- Pedro Flores pitched seven shutout innings to help the Edinburg Roadrunners defeat the Laredo Broncos 5-0 Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in front of 3,828 Roadrunner fans.
Flores (5-4) picked up his fifth win of the season after allowing only two hits in seven innings of work.
The Roadrunners got on the score board in the bottom of the third with an RBI double by Hector Garanzuay that allowed Sergio Guerrero to score from second giving Edinburg the 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth Osiel Flores drew a two-out walk and then moved to second when Eric Gonzalez was hit by a pitch. With runners at second and first, Wilmer Pino hit an RBI single to right field that allowed Flores to score from second. Pino then stole second and the throw allowed Gonzalez to score from third extending Edinburg's lead 3-0.
Carlos Hereaud was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the eighth and advanced to second after a walk to Vincent Blue. Osiel Flores was then hit by a pitch to load the bases for Gonzalez who hit a two-run single to center field that drove in Hereaud and Blue making the score 5-0 in Edinburg's favor.
Bryan Heaston and Brian Martin combined for two scoreless innings to close out the game giving the Roadrunners the 5-0 victory.
Edinburg (40-31) and Laredo (22-49) will play the final game of this four-game series Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Tim Haines (8-4) is expected to pitch for the Roadrunners with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
