Six-point weekend lifts Toledo's Scalici to Sher-Wood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week

The Toledo IceDiggers' left wing Paul Scalici has a share of the lead in two NAHL scoring categories and a six point weekend on the road against the Soo Indians brought him Sher-Wood NAHL Player of the Week honors for Week Four.

Scalici tallied the game's first goal, a power play tally, just inside the 14 minute mark of the opening period on Friday night. After Soo tied the score in the second period, the Allen Park, Michigan native set up the go-ahead goal, again on the power play, with just under four minutes remaining in the second. With the IceDiggers clinging to that one goal lead, he added another goal just 43 seconds into the third period and then set up the empty net goal in a 5-3 win.

The next night, Scalici set up the IceDiggers' second goal of the game -- which proved to be the game-winner -- following just two minutes after the opening goal. Then at 12:31 of the third period, while Toledo nursed that one goal lead, Scalici struck again on the power play notching his the team's third goal of the game. The IceDiggers eventually won 4-1.

Scalici enters the Showcase tied for the NAHL lead in scoring with 17 points and tied for the lead in goals with 11.
