
Six former Nailers in AHL finals

WHEELING W.V. â The Wheeling Nailers AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are in the hunt for the Calder Cup, facing off against the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL Finals. The Penguins have six former Nailers on their playoff roster while the Admirals, whose ECHL affiliate is the Toledo Storm, have eight former ECHL players on their roster.
The most notable ex-Nailer, is goaltender Andy Chiodo who started his season with Wheeling, and worked his way all the way to NHL. Chiodo is 9-5 in the playoffs with three shutouts, a goals against average of 1.77 and a save percentage of .929. He is also tied for the postseason lead in shutouts (3) with Hartford's Jason LaBarbera who the Penguins eliminated in the Conference Finals.
Other former Nailers helping the Penguins in their drive for the cup are Darcy Robinson (Wheeling, 2001-03), Michel Ouellet (Wheeling, 2002-03), Marquis Mathieu (Wheeling, 1993-94 and 1997-98), David Koci (Wheeling, 2001-03), and Martin Brochu (Wheeling, 1995-96 and 2003-04).
