SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs scored twice in all three periods on their way to a 6-2 victory over the Sherbrooke Phoenix Friday at Harbour Station.

Nico Blachman and Oliver Felixson each scored their first career QMJHL goals for Saint John (16-10-2-0), while Sam Povorozniouk, Adam Bateman, Mathieu Joseph and Nathan Noel also found the net. Adam Marsh chipped in with three assists.

Nicolas Poulin and Guillaume Gauthier replied for Sherbrooke (11-12-3-2), which have lost three straight.

The Phoenix opened the scoring more than six minutes into the game when Guillaume Gauthier raced in on the right wing side and fed a short pass to Poulin in front of the crease. The 18-year-old tapped it through the legs of Sea Dog goalie Marc-Antoine Turcotte.

Saint John tied it with five-and-a-half minutes remaining in the frame.

After a failed 2-on-1 for the Phoenix, Luke Green found Povorozniouk open on the right wing. The Sea Dogs' leading goal scorer broke in on the right side, cut across the net and deked to his backhand, beating Phoenix goalie Alexandre Lagace with a shot into the top of the cage.

Two minutes later, with the teams skating 4-on-4, Marsh set up Adam Bateman in the right circle. The overage defenceman snapped a quick shot inside the right post to give Saint John a 2-1 lead.

But Sherbrooke evened the score just over a minute later on a 4-on-3 power play.

Defenceman Carl Neill fired a slap shot from the top of the left circle that hit a stick and bounced to the right wing side. Gauthier found the puck and bounced it into an open net.

The Sea Dogs regained the lead eight minutes into the second period when Joe Veleno snapped a low shot from the bottom of the right circle that Lagace stopped with his right pad. Blachman swatted the rebound across the line for his first career goal in his fourth game with Saint John. The goal turned into the game-winner.

Just 71 seconds later, Felixson sent a long shot from the left point that beat Lagace waist-high, past his glove for the Finnish blueliner's first goal and a 4-2 Sea Dog lead.

The offensive barrage continued early in the third.

Joseph finished off a pass from Matthew Highmore behind the net four-and-a-half minutes into the period.

Noel wrapped up the scoring on a power play 38 seconds later, when he took a pass in the middle of the slot and whipped a shot through the legs of Lagace to create a 6-2 final score.

Turcotte got the win for Saint John with 17 stops. Lagace made 42 saves in a losing cause.

Joseph's goal, assist and nine shots made him first star while Marsh's three helpers gave him second star honours. Bokondji Imama was named third star with one assist and five hits in front of 3,770 fans in attendance.
