April 13, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will look for their 4th victory this season on Saturday night in Omaha, NE. The Storm will take the field against the Omaha Beef (3-0) at 7:05 PM at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Storm and Beef are two of the final three unbeaten teams left in the UIF. The winner of Saturday night's game will take sole control of the Western Conference. Of the previous seven meetings between the two, the Storm has come out victorious five times. The game can be heard LIVE on 1230 AM KWSN or by logging on to www.siouxfallsstorm.com and clicking on "Listen LIVE."
There was nothing "lightning strike" about the Storm's offense last week in the first half vs. Sioux City. With only managing 14 first half points, the Bandits were giving the Storm all they could handle. Terrance Bryant finished the game 9 of 19 passing for 128 yards and running back Marques Smith crossed the goal line twice. The Storm's "Thunder" Defense came to the party putting together their best performance of the season. After only allowing 7 points in the first half, Justin Landis jump-started the team in the second half by scoring a touchdown off an interception, the third touchdown of his career. The defense added more points when defensive back Trice Crump returned a blocked kick on a PAT. Defensive end Nate Fluit also racked up three sacks. The defense was relentless to the quarterback recording three sacks, two interceptions, five quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, and six tackles for loss.
The Beef are coming off an Easter Sunday win at Billings where they defeated the Outlaws 36-20 in front of a crowd of 2,406. Quarterback James McNear led the charge with 166 yards of total offense (75-rushing and 91-passing) and four total touchdowns (two each rushing and passing). The offense as a whole out-gained Billings 188-138 and scored four touchdowns. Defensively, James Johnson and Tito Hannah each had 5.5 tackles. The defense held the Outlaws to 23 yards rushing and gave up only 115 passing yards. They also sacked Billings quarterback Chris Dixon once, forced three fumbles, broke up six passes and even blocked a Greg Gundersen field goal.
The home opener for the Storm next week will be a rematch with the defending National Indoor Football League champions Billings Outlaws. There are a limited number of tickets available for the home-opener. Individual tickets can be acquired by visiting the Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet, calling Ticketmaster at 334-8181, or purchasing from ticketmaster.com.
