UIF Week Four Preview
April 13, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE - If you're driving down I-29 Saturday, leave early. This week the Sioux Falls Storm will be making its way down to Omaha to face the Beef in a battle of the undefeated in the Western Conference.
COLORADO ICE (1-2) at SIOUX CITY BANDITS (0-2)
Ryan Clement will have a tall order this week, against a team that ranks sixth in pass defense, but that could be offset as the Bandits rank tenth in scoring defense and seventh in rushing defense. Expect a good mixture of passing and rushing from the Ice this week. The Bandits' offensive line will need a big game as they've given up seven sacks, and the Ice have proven to be a physical defensive team. Kickoff is Friday night, 7:05 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center Gateway Arena.
EVANSVILLE BLUECATS (1-2) at ROCK RIVER RAPTORS (1-1)
If the BlueCats come out of Rockford with a win, it will come at the hands of their defense, as the team has players ranked in the top ten in five of the six major categories. Rockford, behind Ben Sankey, is currently leading the league in passing offense per game, averaging 296.5 yards, and is tied for second with nine touchdown passes. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at MetroCentre in Rockford, IL.
SIOUX FALLS STORM (3-0) at OMAHA BEEF (3-0)
In arguably the best storied match up this week, the second best scoring offense in the Storm visits the Beef's league leading scoring defense. While the Storm average 51 points per game, the Beef surrender only 22. League veteran Mark Blackburn and Nate Fluit will be keys to victory for the Storm defense. The Beef must continue having great play from James Johnson and Tito Hannah. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the "Slaughterhouse" Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, NE.
RIVERCITY RAGE (3-0) at BLOOMINGTON EXTREME (0-2)
RiverCity has turned into a second half team this season and hasn't won a game by more than a touchdown. Brandon Gregory and Terrell Washington continue to anchor this defense as Anthony Fisher has been steadily holding down the offense. Steve LaFalce and the Extreme offense will have to click on all cylinders and the Extreme defense must find a way to shut down rookie sensation Muhammad Abdulqaadir. Kickoff at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL will be at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS (1-2) at LEXINGTON HORSEMEN (2-1)
With the league's highest scoring offense averaging 51pts/game, the Horsemen will be glad to see Rupp Arena again. Last week they dominated the BlueCats at Rupp, 70-25. Week 3 Offense Player of the Week Kewan Dewberry should have another big game utilizing the abilities of Harry Lewis and Rayshawn Askew. The Greyhounds played the Horsemen close in week one in Wheeling, WV, but the Horsemen prevailed 44-37. This is the first re-match game of the UIF season. Sunday's kickoff at Rupp Arena is set for 3 p.m.
