Marquee Match-up to Feature Bedazzle Bowl

Omaha, NE - Two of the three undefeated United Indoor Football teams face each other Saturday night in Omaha as the hometown Beef face the Sioux Falls Storm. Both teams are off to 3 and 0 starts. That won't be the only great game at the Civic Auditorium. Half-time entertainment features the Bedazzle Bowl as Omaha's Prime Dancers take on the Storm's Lightning Girls in tackle football.
The two dance teams will play a 10-minute eight-on-eight game with the Bedazzle Bowl Ball up for grabs. It's the Lombardi Trophy of this contest. Prime Dancer, Katie, says it's a lot of fun. She's played three years in-a-row. "Hopefully I don't get hurt like the past years." Her past injuries were "nothing major" she says, at least nothing a chiropractor couldn't take care of. Not only is she a veteran of these games, she also played some high school Powder Puff games. She has yet to score a touchdown for the Prime Dancers. "I think this is the game. I hope so," she said about Saturday night's event.
The Prime Dancers don't have a playbook. There are three plays in the Lightning Girls' arsenal, including one called "lipstick." Ironically, no rouge. A rouge in the UIF is a one-point score for the kickoff team if the receiving team can't advance the ball out of the end-zone.
Lightning Girl, Tari, didn't think she'd actually be playing football when she decided to be a dancer for the Storm. She thinks the tackling aspect will be interested, but says "we don't know if they'll be out for blood."
While the game is played "all in fun," according to Katie, pride is definitely at stake. "We were voted the number one dance team in the UIF...hopefully we keep ourselves on top," Tari said. In the meantime, Katie says beating the Lightning Girls would be "pure victory, we'd be ecstatic. We're ready to win."
