April 1, 2009 - Texas League (TL1)
Midland RockHounds News Release
One week from Thursday, the RockHounds will take the field in Little Rock, Arkansas for the start of the 2009 Texas League season. After a quick six game road trip the 'Hounds will return to Citibank Ballpark on Thursday, April 16th for Opening Day!
Tickets for any of the RockHounds' 70 home games are on sale as of April 1
The team has announced its 2009 Special Events Schedule, highlighted by nine fireworks nights at Citibank Ballpark
The RockHounds have a new 'radio home' in 2009: JACKFM (102.1 - FM)
Single-Game Tickets may be purchased at the RockHounds ticket office at Citibank Ballpark, over the phone at (432) 520-2255 or online by clicking here. This season, for the first time, fans purchasing their tickets online may also print their actual game ticket(s) at their home or office.
Hall of Famer Johnny Bench will make an appearance at Citibank Ballpark on Friday, April 17th. The former Cincinnati Reds great will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. Bench's appearance is in conjunction with the Arthritis Foundation's night at the ballpark. See Johnny Bench throw out the first pitch.
Fireworks nights continue to be among the most popular ballpark events, and the RockHounds will offer nine (9) post-game shows in 2009, each on a Saturday night. Ticket packages for all nine nights are available by clicking here.
Souvenir giveaway nights will feature some of the traditional ballpark "greats," including two cap nights and adult and kids jersey nights. The 2009 line-up also includes RockHounds blankets and pillow cases (two separate nights), military helmets, mini-footballs and miniature replicas of the Scharbauer Sports Complex (Citibank Ballpark and Grande Communications Stadium).
The Clown Prince of Baseball, Myron Noodleman returns to Citibank Ballpark with a June 20th appearance. Myron was named baseball's Clown Prince in 2004 (it's actually a very prestigious and historic title) and he earns that title every time out. A bizarre hybrid of Jerry Lewis, Groucho Marx and who knows who else (!) Myron works a room like no one else in the game.
Sunday & weeknight special events return including Thirsty Thursdays, which have become and "instant classic" at the stadium.
RockHounds Radio has a new home for 2009 ... JACKFM (102.1) - After more than two decades with KCRS-AM, the 'Hounds are moving, but it's all "in the family." Like KCRS, Jack is a member of the GAP Broadcasting Group. The station, at 102.1 FM, is scheduled to carry each of the RockHounds 140 games "live," including weekday day games. Bob Hards returns as Voice of the RockHounds, back in the booth for his 18th season with the franchise and his 22nd year in professional baseball.
