Naturals C Thibault released from Royals' organization
April 1, 2009 - Texas League (TL1)
Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
Kiel Thibault, the starting catcher in the Naturals' first game at San Antonio last season, was given his release from the Kansas City Royals' organization Wednesday morning and now becomes a minor league free agent.
Thibault, a 25-year old Jerome, ID resident, batted .160 in 31 Naturals games in 2008 during an injury-riddled season that saw the backstop spend two different stints on the disabled list. He received an invite to Major League Camp this spring but played sporadically upon his return to minor league camp.
Thibault, originally a ninth-round selection in the 2005 Major League Draft, hit .256 in 239 games in the four seasons he spent in the Royals' farm system.
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. For season ticket packages and group information for the 2009 season, please call (479) 927-4900 or visit nwanaturals.com.
