Everett Silvertips News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - Everett Silvertips Vice President/General Manager Doug Soetaert today announced that the club has recalled forwards Ty Mappin and Carson Samoridny, who are both Alberta natives. Both players will join the team prior to tonight's game in Lethbridge and will be available to enter the lineup against the Hurricanes.

Mappin, 15, was Everett's first round pick (seventh overall) in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The 5-10, 160-pound center is playing this season with the Red Deer Rebels' AAA Midget program near his hometown of Big Valley, Alberta, but is eligible to play up to five games for the Silvertips this season. Mappin recently helped Team Alberta win the Gold Medal at the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup in Moose Jaw, SK, recording two goals and two assists in the tournament.

Samoridny, 17, was one of the last players released from Everett's training camp in September before being re-assigned to the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 15 games with the Spruce Grove Saints this season, the 6-3, 200-pound winger has scored nine goals and assisted on two more for a total of 11 points. He is currently on a seven-game goal-scoring streak for the Saints. A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Samoridny had one assist and four penalty minutes in five preseason games with the Silvertips this year.

The Silvertips will look to rebound from back-to-back losses tonight night as they conclude the Alberta portion of their road trip against the Lethbridge Hurricanes at 6:00 pm Pacific Time, with pre-game radio coverage starting at 5:30 pm on Fox Sports 1380 AM.
