Silvertips and KRKO 1380 AM & 95.3 FM Announce Multi-Year Play-By-Play Broadcast Renewal Agreement

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), recipient of the 2019 Western Hockey League Business of the Award, and KRKO 1380 AM & 95.3 FM (@KRKO1380) have announced a multi-year radio play-by-play partnership extension that has made the Everett-based radio station, broadcasting at 50,000 watts, the Silvertips radio flagship home since the club's 2003-04 WHL expansion season.

The extension calls for KRKO and affiliate KKXA, locally owned, to continue broadcasting live and in their entirety, all regular season and WHL Playoff Silvertips contests on a two-year renewal through the 2020-21 season. Select games for SoundTransit Everett Silvertips will air during the season on affiliate KKXA 1520 AM & 101.1 FM. All broadcasts - additionally available via the TuneIn app and Amazon Alexa - will include the Everett Bone & Joint Silvertips Pregame Show, opening 30 minutes before each puck drop, and the Silvertips Postgame Show presented by Tulalip Resort and Casino.

The "Voice of the Everett Silvertips," Mike Benton, will continue to call play-by-play action, host the "Everett Bone & Joint Silvertips Pregame Show" and "Postgame Show presented by Tulalip Resort and Casino," and will also serve as host of the Silvertips Hockey Show heard on select Tuesday nights, on everettsilvertips.com (powered by Mixlr) from Sporty's Beef and Brew in Everett (full schedule to be announced soon). He will also provide morning Silvertips news updates, heard on KRKO.

Benton (@Benton_Mike), recipient of the Goldie Award in 2014 for statewide hockey play-by-play coverage in Alaska, enters his fifth season as "Voice of the Silvertips" and 15th overall in hockey - previously with the Alaska Aces and Stockton Thunder (ECHL) - and continuing to serve in the Silvertips front office as director of broadcasting and public relations. He is scheduled to broadcast his 1,200th game in his career on Feb. 28 at Kelowna. Returning for his fourth season as radio color analyst, Justin Morrison (@TipsATG) enters his 11th overall season on Silvertips broadcast coverage, previously as host of "Tips After the Game" and will team with Benton, on air for all Silvertips home games and select road games. Keith Black provides additional coverage from the KRKO studios, providing out-of-town scoreboard updates during each Friday and Saturday Silvertips game.

Based in Everett, Wash., KRKO 1380 AM & 95.3 FM is the home of Everett's and the North Sound's greatest hits, sports and more, delivering the Everett Morning Show with Tim Hunter and live coverage of Everett AquaSox baseball, Snohomish County high school football and basketball, and Prep Sports Weekly. KKXA 1520 AM & 101.1 FM is the home of legendary country hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. For 97 years, KRKO has delivered radio broadcasting to the Pacific Northwest, currently heard across Snohomish County, King County, the islands of Western Washington and into the province of British Columbia.

SoundTransit Silvertips Hockey on KRKO/KKXA returns for Opening Night of the 2019-20 regular season, Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:35 p.m. against the visiting Tri-City Americans from Angel of the Winds Arena.

2019-20 SCHEDULE, TICKET INFORMATION

The Tips full regular season schedule offers full 34-game season tickets, 22-game, and 14-game plans for as little as $215 total per seat. Deposits for $50 will secure a seat for the 2019-20 season, available at www.everettsilvertips.com/season or by calling (425) 252-5100 during normal business hours (Monday through Thursday during the offseason, 9am to 4pm). Seven game packs are now on sale.

The Silvertips will launch the 2019-20 season and raise their seventh U.S. Division banner to the rafters on Opening Night, Sept. 20 at Angel of the Winds Arena against the Tri-City Americans at 7:35 p.m.
