Silverbacks To Host Rayados De Monterrey

June 29, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

The Atlanta Silverbacks will be hosting another Mexican Professional First Division team this summer, Rayados de Monterrey, on July 12th. The Silverbacks, who will already be taking on the renowned Cruz Azul on July 28th, will give their fans another opportunity to see a top Mexican Primera División team here in Atlanta. Tecate, the game's presenting sponsor, has also planned a soccer extravaganza where devoted fans will be treated to autograph sessions featuring Selección Tecate players and an energetic half-time show, sponsored by Alka-Seltzer.

"While futbol has always played an important role in the daily lives of Mexicans, it is only in the recent years that the sport has gained momentum as a cultural phenomenon in the United States," said Carlos Boughton, brand manager for Tecate. "Tecate is proud to bring some of Mexico's top soccer talent to the U.S., providing Mexican and other soccer fans an opportunity to share their passion for the sport in the local communities."

One of the most beloved teams in the northern part of Mexico, Monterrey held its first title in 1986 after a 3-2 defeat against Tampico-Madero. Most notably, the team is known for their rivalry against team "Tigres" also from Monterrey. Founded in 1999, the Atlanta Silverbacks will face the "Rayados" at their home field, RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium, during the July 12 exhibition game set to begin at 7:55 p.m.

Fans will also be invited to an exclusive autograph signing and photograph session with the beautiful Senadoras from Univision's "Republica Deportiva," who will be onsite to show their support for the sport.

Tickets to the July 12 Primera División Tecate festivities are on sale now. Get your tickets by calling 404-969-4900 or visiting www.atlantasilverbacks.com.
