Silverbacks reach out to Children's Harvest Festival

November 1, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

Buffalo, NY. Continuing with their "Do Your Best, Never Quit" community outreach initiative, the ABA Buffalo Silverbacks recently visited the Wesleyan Church in East Aurora, NY to participate in a fun-filled day of face painting and a candy hunt as part of the Children's Harvest Festival. More than 20 energized pre-school children had the chance to interact with Modie Cox and Marlin Johnson, two pro basketball players from the Silverbacks.

In keeping with the harvest festival theme, big hits at the event were kitty-cats, chickens, a pig or two and a handful of "farmers in training." Once painted, the children proceeded to dig in the leaves in search of the perfect piece of candy or two or three - or as much as their parents would let them put in their bag. Modie Cox said, "It was a great event and we had as much fund as the kids did." Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
