SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Silver Stars have waived forward Shyra Ely, announced General Manager and Head Coach Dan Hughes today.

San Antonio selected Ely in the second round (14th overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft out of Tennessee. The Indianapolis native averaged 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game during her two seasons with the Silver Stars. She appeared in just 12 games as a rookie and missed 18 games in 2006 after fracturing her left foot.

"We appreciate everything Shyra contributed to our organization these last two years and wish her well," said Hughes.

A 2005 honorable mention AP All-American and all-SEC First Team selection, Ely ranked among the Lady Vols top 10 all-time in scoring and rebounds at Tennessee.

The Silver Stars open training camp Sunday, April 22. San Antonio begins the 2007 season at Phoenix on May 19 before hosting Connecticut May 23 at the AT&T Center. Full season and partial ticket plans are available starting as low as $49. For more information on tickets, call 210.444.5090.
