
Sacramento Monarchs Announce 2007 Training Camp Roster

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., April 20, 2007 - The two-time Western Conference Champion Sacramento Monarchs today announce the beginning of Training Camp and the Training Camp roster for the 2007 WNBA season. Members of the media wishing to attend practice should contact the media relations department at 916.928.8112, after 9 a.m. each day for practice times and location. The Monarchs first Training Camp session will take place on Sunday, April 22, with media availability beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Monarchs Training Facility in the Media Viewing Room.
Sacramento's Camp roster boasts 10 returning Monarchs, four WNBA veterans and one Training Camp invitee. Those attending the 2007 Sacramento Monarchs Training Camp includes: six guards, five forwards and four centers.
Absent from this Training Camp roster are two Monarchs veterans. On March 6, former Monarchs forward/center, Erin Buescher, signed a free agent contract with the San Antonio Silver Stars. Also signing a free agent contact was former Monarchs guard/forward, Hamchétou Maïga-Ba, who signed with the Houston Comets on March 7.
The Monarchs will play two games in the preseason, first on Friday, May 11, versus the Seattle Storm, at 7:00 p.m. PDT, at KeyArena. The team will then host the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, at ARCO Arena.
The Monarchs will host the Los Angeles Sparks in their Home Opener on Saturday, June 2, at 7 p.m., at ARCO Arena, in a rematch of the 2006 WNBA Western Conference Finals to be locally televised on News10. Sacramento begins the season with their first four games on the road, including the WNBA season opener, in a nationally televised game (ABC), against the 2006 WNBA Champion Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 19, at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
