July 1, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The game was close all the way through last night at Peccole Park in Reno, as the Silver Sox (11-20) slipped by the Chico Outlaws (10-22) in a 14-13 victory.

Starting pitcher Jeremy Flanagan pitched 2.2 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits, walking two, and striking out two before going out after getting hit by a ball. Scott Schneider came in to relieve Flanagan for one inning and allowed one run off three hits, walking four and striking out two.

Coming in for the win was Reggie Leslie (1-0) who pitched 3.1 innings allowing two runs off four hits, walking three and striking out two. Next in was Eduardo Del La Cruz who threw 1.2 innings allowing four runs off two hits and striking out two. When the Outlaws nearly tied the game in the ninth, Coach Jeffrey Leonard put in Kevin Frederick to pitch the last out with runners in scoring position. Frederick nearly struck out the batter, but 2B Carlos Madrid scooped the ground ball up and tossed it to end the game. Frederick earned his second save.

Once again the Silver Sox bats were potent. C D.J. Dixon kept his hot hitting streak alive as he hit a single in the second to get a five run Silver Sox rally going. Dixon went three for four on the night with one RBI, including his seventh homerun on the season, a double, and three runs.

LF Ryan Crespi also added to the rally as he hit a rocket triple that scored SS Andre Alvarado and 1B Steve Alexander. Crespi was two for four against the Outlaws with four RBIs and one run. Alexander would later hit his sixth homerun on the season in the third inning, as he went one for four with one RBI and three runs. Alvarado would also end up putting a run on the board as he went one for two with one RBI and two runs.

In the fifth inning DH Juan Senreiso hit a solo shot that would help put the Silver Sox ahead 11-8. Senreiso was one for four with one RBI and one run. Clinching the game for the Silver Sox in the eighth was 1B Ryan Brown. After Alexander reached on an error, Brown blasted a two run homer over the center field wall to put the Silver Sox up for good 14-9. Brown was one for two with two RBIs and a run.
