Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox defeated the Orange County Flyers tonight, August 24, thanks to four homeruns, 13 - 2.

The Flyers struck first when LF Rich Pohle hit an RBI double to give the Flyers a 1 - 0 lead, however that would be the last time they would score a run until the seventh inning.

In the second inning, 1B Adam Amar hit his first of three homeruns. The first homerun was a solo shot. His second came in the fifth inning and was a two run shot. His third homerun was another solo shot in the eighth inning. All told, Amar finished the night going 4-5 with four runs score and four RBIs.

LF Kane Simmons also hit his league leading 17th homerun of the season in the eighth inning which was a two-run blast.

Silver Sox starter Dusty Bergman shut down the Flyers offense. Bergman allowed only two runs over seven innings off of nine hits and struck out six Flyers.

Josh Evans came in to relieve Bergman and did exactly the same thing as Bergman, shut down the Flyers. In two innings of relief, Evans allowed only three hits and struck out one Flyer batter.

The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park TONIGHT, August 25, for the final two games of the 2007 season, a doubleheader against the Orange County Flyers. Tonight is also Fan Appreciation Night. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with the second game beginning 30 minutes after the first game ends. After the second game, fireworks presented by the Silver Sox will light up the night sky to show our thanks for all of our fan support during the course of the 2007 season.
