Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox lost again for the second time to the Yuma Scorpions tonight, June 16, with a final score of 6 - 7.

The Silver Sox started off the game on th3 right foot taking a 6 - 3 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but once again just couldn't seem to pull it out.

The Scorpions scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up at six. Silver Sox starter James Johnson pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing five runs, all earned off of nine hits including one homerun. Relieving Johnson was Adam Nikolic. Nikolic came into record the last out, however he instead allowed one run to score off of two hits letting the Scorpions tie the game at 6 a piece. Sent in to relieve Nikolic was Matt Parris. Parris was able to record the last out of the inning to stop the damage and keep the game tied up.

The game would stay that way and eventually lead to extra innings. The Silver Sox and Scorpions kept trading zeros for the next three innings until the 11 inning. However, Parris wasn't able to stay perfect and eventually gave up one run in the bottom of the 11 inning, giving the Scorpions the win.

On offense, the Silver Sox were once again lead by C Jose Rodriguez. ROdrigues homered for his second straight game and finsihed the game going 2-5, with two runs scored and two RBIs.

The Silver Sox have one more game to play against the Scorpions tomorrow night, June 17, before heading back to Reno to play a two game series against the St. George Roadrunners.
