Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Silver Knights fell 15-12 to the Milwaukee Wave in a playoff-critical contest at the Oncenter. In front of a record crowd of 3,892, the Silver Knights fell to one game behind Rochester for the final Eastern Division playoff berth, while Milwaukee clinched the Central Division title.

Cory Elenio starred again for the Silver Knights, scoring his second hat trick in as many games. Bryan O'Quinn played another strong game in goal, saving 30 of 37 shots for a save percentage of 81.

The Silver Knights started off strong with an unassisted three-pointer by Slavisa Ubiparipovic in the second minute. After the Wave scored ten minutes later, the Knights came out firing again in the second quarter. Cory Elenio netted his first goal of the night with an unassisted three-pointer. His second came a moment later in quick response to a Milwaukee goal. Milwaukee's Marcio Leite capped off the half with two more goals to give the Wave their first lead of the game as the teams went into the locker rooms for halftime.

The Wave kept the momentum to start the third quarter, netting two more goals by the fourth minute. The tide turned back to the Silver Knights midway through the quarter when Budnyy nailed one home and Elenio completed his hat trick. But the Wave played their trademark physical game, scoring the lone goal in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

The Silver Knights have two more home games remaining. They take on the Wichita Wings at 7:00 PM at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Come out to pregame food and drinks in Armory Square at 4:00 PM with the March To The Match beginning at 6:20. Members of Syracuse local media, including 9WSYR sports reporter Sal Maneen and CNYCentral chief meteorologist Wayne Mahar, will be participating in the game, playing in the Medial Halftime Soccer Game.
