Wings Weekend Game Preview

February 22, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Wichita Wings News Release

The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will face one of its toughest road tests of the year this weekend; Wichita will play three games in four days. The Wings will take on the Lancers on Thursday, February 23rd in Rochester, NY at 7:00 (EST), and then travel to Syracuse, NY to take on the Silver Knights on February 25th at 7:00 (EST). Wichita will return back to Rochester, NY to once again, take on the Lancers on February 26th at 1:00 (EST).

Wichita has split the series against Rochester and look to spoil their playoff bid. In the most recent matchup, Rochester left Wichita, KS with a 16-10 victory thanks to a late 3-point goal by Doug Miller against Wichita's sixth attacker. Rochester jumped on top early, but saw the Wings fight back with many shots either hitting the post, shots deflecting off the end boards next to the goal, or shots being blocked by Lancer defenders. Rochester capitalized on several Wichita mistakes and also capitalized on both power play opportunities helping them seal the victory. Rochester must win their final two matchups to secure a playoff spot and Wichita looks to play the spoiler and reach a 12-12 record.

Wichita and Syracuse have met only one time this season seeing Wichita win at home in a dominating fashion; 20-4. Moojen (4 goals) and Beasley (3 goals) led the Wings in the first matchup. Syracuse is currently a half game behind Rochester in the Eastern Division standings with four games to play. For Syracuse to seize the final playoff spot, this is a must win game for the Silver Knights. In Syracuse's most recent game, Norfolk dealt them a devastating 21-17 loss. The Silver Knights look to bounce back and continue their playoff push.
