SYRACUSE, New York - The Syracuse Silver Knights (4-4, #3 Eastern Division) knocked off the Harrisburg Heat (0-9, #4 Eastern Division) 5-3 at home to win after falling in Baltimore.

After both teams had chances cleared off of the line, the Knights opened the scoring on the power play. The Orange, Silver and Black knocked the ball around the offensive zone before Antonio Manfut tucked away a shot into the net from the right side to give Syracuse a 1-0 lead late in the opening frame.

With 1:28 to go in the first quarter ex-Silver Knight Marcos Chantel scored to tie up the game. The defender struck a free kick from the right side and it deflected off of Domenico Vitale and past Bryan O'Quinn making the score 1-1.

In the second quarter, Manfut doubled his tally on a Knights counterattack. O'Quinn denies the Heat at one end and threw the ball forward where it eventually found Bo Jelovac. The Serb then slid in a pass through to Manfut and he buried his second goal of the night putting Syracuse back up by a goal, 2-1.

Midway through the second quarter, Harrisburg tied it once again through Patrick Thompson. Following a timeout, Lucio Gonzaga took a set piece which bounced around in the middle before Thompson finished it off making the score 2-2.

Just a minute later, Vitorio Petrera put the Orange, Silver and Black back up a goal. The Syracuse native found some space on the right side and ripped a shot on the ground into the far corner to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.

In the second half, Val Texeira evened the scoreline for the Heat off of a set piece midway through the third quarter. Texeira received the ball on the right side of the attacking zone and buried his shot passed O'Quinn to tie the game at 3-3.

That was it for the scoring in the third. In the fourth quarter, Manfut broke the deadlock once again for the Knights to complete his hat trick. After a scramble in the box, the ball fell to the midfielder's feet and he drilled his shot into the net making the score 4-3 Syracuse.

With under a minute to play in the game Vitale secured the Knights victory with his first goal of the night.

After the game head coach Tommy Tanner complimented his team.

"They dug deep. Harrisburg's a good team...they got good experienced players...But we were able to get the big goal when we needed it in the fourth quarter."

Tanner then discussed the key performance of one of the newer players in his side.

"I think Zack MacNabb is getting a great chance...He's making the most of it; he's all over the place. He's still got a lot to learn, but I think he's had a really good last couple of weeks."

The Salt City club travels for its next three matches. Sunday the Knights go to Detroit to take on the Waza Flo (6-5, #2 Eastern Division). Syracuse beat Detroit 9-4 from the War Memorial November 20th. The last time the two teams faced off in early December Detroit won 8-4.

The next chance to see the Silver Knights in action at home comes Friday January 22nd as the Orange, Silver and Black host the St. Louis Ambush (1-8 #4 in Central Division Division). The Knights have not yet played the Ambush this season. Single game and season tickets are selling fast.
