Kansas City Comets News Release
INDEPENDENCE, MO - The Missouri Comets (11-2) will look to claim the top of the Central Division against second place Chicago Mustangs (9-2) this Saturday night at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The Retro Night match will be streamed live on Go Live Sports Cast and is scheduled to kick off at 7:35 p.m. CT.
Coach Vlatko Andonovski's team will be wearing special edition retro jerseys, which will be auctioned throughout the match. All proceeds will benefit the Marillac Mental Health Facility in Overland Park, KS. In addition, replica jerseys can be purchased for $50 at the merchandise stand.
For fans who would like to arrive early, the Kansas City Chiefs playoff game against the Houston Texans will be shown at the arena's concourses as well as at Stroud's Restaurant next door. By presenting your tickets, get a 25% off your check.
Both the Comets and the Mustangs have had a solid first half of the season with only two defeats each. However, Missouri leads the series 1-0 after earning a 9-5 victory at the Sears Centre on November 22. The 2013/14 PASL Champions will return for game three on Saturday February 6. In addition, the Comets lead the All-time series 4-0.
Both teams are coming from hard fought victories. Last Saturday, the Comets were able to stop Milwaukee's come-from-behind attempt to take a 5-4 victory, while the Mustangs defeated the Cedar Rapids Rampage 3-1 in the lowest scoring game of the season.
Team captain and MASL leader Vahid Assadpour stands at the top of the league standings with a total of 40 points, eight points ahead of San Diego's Kraig Chiles. On the other hand, Chicago are led by Efrain Wilo Martinez, who stands fourth with 29 points.
However, the Mustangs' performances have been highlighted by the signing of former Mexican National Team star and FIFA World Cup veteran Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista who currently records eight points off of seven goals and one assist in four games.
Missouri's only absence will be defender Brian Harris who hasn't recovered from a knee injury suffered three weeks ago.

Next up, the Comets will have a three-week break before returning home on January 31 as they host the Baltimore Blast in a rematch of last season's Conference Championship. For tickets, please call 855-4KC-GOAL or visit ticketmaster.
