Tucson Sidewinders News Release

The Sidewinders won their third game in a row Thursday with an exciting 9th inning comeback with a final score of 7-6. After scoring two runs in the 1st inning, Tucson fell behind 6-2 with Albuquerque scoring 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, and 3 in the 5th inning. Tucson starter Mike Gosling was knocked out in the 5th, but the bullpen, including Ward, Oropesa, Marshall, and Valverde, threw 4 1/3 innings of scoreless ball to keep the game close.

The Sidewinders chipped away at the lead with a run in the 7th and two in the 8th on a Brian Gordon team-leading 5th HR of the season. With Tucson down by one, Tim Olson led off the bottom of the 9th with an infield single. DeVore followed with a single to left and both runners advanced on a wild pitch by Isotope closer Blaine Neal. Bell grounded out to 2nd but was able to plate the tying run. Two intentional walks to Matt Kata and Chad Tracy loaded the bases for Brian Gordon. Gordon battled in the at bat and was able to draw a game winning walk to drive in DeVore to win the game.

The Sidewinders go for the sweep Friday at 6:30pm with Chris Cervantes (3-1, 2.74) facing Isotope starter Doug Bochtler (2-0, 4.30).
