Sidekicks Place Sagu on IR, Sign GK Horvath

DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks acquired the rights of Dezso "DJ" Horvath from the Kansas City Comets Wednesday in exchange for a 1st round pick in the 2004 MISL Amateur Draft, an unnamed future player, and financial considerations.

The Sidekicks signed Horvath to a five-game/15-day contract. All-Star goalkeeper Sagu is going on the injured reserve list after aggravating a groin injury in the Sidekicks 10-9 loss at Kansas City February 7. The Sidekicks also waived forward Laurenco Andrade.

Horvath spent the beginning of the 2003-04 MISL season with the Kansas City Comets. He had a 5-9 record in 15 games this season with a 7.39 goals against average. Horvath has played a total of 52 regular season games in four seasons, recording 2,873 minutes in goal. He has faced 1,145 shots, saving 691 and allowing 273 goals. He has a 23-25 (.479) record.

Sagu, the Sidekicks All-Star goalkeeper, has started all 24 games this season with a 14-8 record. He leads the league in minutes (1437) and is second in goals against average (4.34) and saves (387).

The Sidekicks (14-10) hold a 31/2 game lead over the San Diego Sockers (10-13) in the MISL Western Division. Dallas has back-to-back road games this weekend. Their first game is against the Milwaukee Wave (17-5) on Saturday February 14 at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 6:50 p.m. Then they travel to Cleveland (6-14) on Sunday February 15 at 2:05 p.m. Coverage on KFWD Channel 52 begins at 2:00 p.m. and coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 1:50 p.m.
