Sidekicks fall to Sockers in Exhibition Play

Dallas Sidekicks News Release
Allen, TX - The Dallas Sidekicks fell to the San Diego Sockers, 5-3, in exhibition play Saturday night. Cameron Brown led the way for the Sidekicks with 2 goals and Juan Gamboa was stellar in goal with 12 saves. Sockers goalkeeper Boris Pardo tallied 8 saves on 11 shots.
The Sidekicks would jump out to a 2 goal lead in the first quarter with VcMor Eligwe notching the opening goal and Cameron Brown poking in the second on the assist from Clint Ritter. The second quarter saw the Sockers answer with a pair of goals of their own. The first came from Brandon Escoto cutting the lead for the Sidekicks in half, and Leonardo De Oliveira tied things up with a power play goal of his own. The game would stay all square heading in to halftime.
The second half saw the Sidekicks take the lead back with Cameron Brown scoring his second goal of the evening just 44 seconds in to the second half. The teams would trade shots on goal until the Sockers tied it at 3 with a goal from Travis Pittman. With the game tied at the end of the third quarter the Sockers came out firing shots on Sidekicks goalkeeper, Juan Gamboa. Gamboa was up to the challenge until the Sockers were able to find the back of the net five minutes in on a goal from Kraig Chiles. It would remain 4-3 Sockers lead and with 2 minutes remaining the Sidekicks would pull Gamboa and put Cody Ellis on as a sixth attacker. Ellis had a shot attempt blocked and Cesar Cerda was able to pass it in from just shy of midfield to give the Sockers their ultimate 5-3 win.
The Dallas Sidekicks will travel to St. Louis to take on the Ambush Sunday, November 18th. Kickoff for that game is at 3pm and can be seen on MASL.TV.
