ALLEN, TX - The Dallas Sidekicks (5-7) won 6-4 after a fantastic performance against Harrisburg Heat (2-7) in the team's Youth Soccer Night celebration.

In the first opening minutes of the match, Sidekicks player Julio Varela scored the opening goal and his fourth goal this season. The team conceded a goal after Harrisburg put in a solid effort to level the match. Rio Ramirez would put the Sidekicks ahead 2-1 in the last minute of the match.

Six minutes into the second quarter, the Harrisburg Heat leveled the match making it 2-2. The visiting side had another shot on goal in their favor, leading them to come up top in the scoreboard for the first time in the match.

The third quarter saw both teams continuously attacking each other's goals-both teams were unlucky and saw their efforts denied by the defense and goalies. Julio Varela scored his second match goal leveling the match 3-3 with nine minutes left in the clock. Valera scored his third of the night with just 22 seconds left in the third quarter-Sidekicks now led 4-3.

Jamie Lovegrove extended the Sidekicks' lead after a constant back and forth from both sides, making it 5-3 with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. After a penalty kick called after a foul on Cameron Brown, Jamie Lovegrove took the penalty kick to score his second of the night and seal the win for the Sidekicks 6-3. Harrisburg Heat pulled one back with 40 seconds left in the match to make it 6-4.

Julio Valera shared his comments after his fantastic performance on Saturday's win:

"It feels good to have a solid performance," said Varela. "I couldn't have done it without the help of my teammates. We didn't want to let this game go-we worked hard, hold ourselves accountable, and have fun."

The Sidekicks return to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center on Saturday, February 12, 2022, against the Florida Tropics (10-1) at 7:00 pm CST.
