
Sidekicks Double Header Weekend in KC

(ALLEN, TEXAS) - The Dallas Sidekicks hit the road to take on the Kansas City Comets for a weekend double header in their seventh and eighth games of the season. The first game is on Friday, February 19th at 7:00pm with another game on Sunday, February 21st at 5:00pm. Both games will take place at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri.
Kansas City is on a roll having won their last two games, beating the St. Louis Ambush 9-5 and the San Diego Sockers 5-3. The Comets look to even their record at 4-4 against the Sidekicks on Friday in their fourth-straight home game after starting the season on the road in Texas. The team is lead in scoring by Aaron James, who has nine goals in seven games, second best in the league, to go along with his two assists. Forward Rian Marques is second on the team with six goals while Leo Gibson has a team high six assists. Nicolau Neto is the team's top goalie sporting a 3-2 record in net with a .699 save percentage. Defender Matt Lewis has served 14 penalty minutes thus far this season, the highest in the MASL.
The Sidekicks are playing their best soccer of the season coming off a tight one-goal loss to the Florida Tropics, best team in the MASL. Dallas was riding high after their dramatic overtime win over the Tacoma Stars the week earlier. The boys in green are lead by second-year forward Felipe De Sousa who has eight goals, third-highest in the league. De Sousa has a pair of hat-tricks so far this season and his overtime banger against the Stars was the Sidekick's biggest goal of the 2021 campaign. Goalie Juan Gamboa sports a 5.44 goals-against-average placing him one spot ahead of this weekends opposing keeper, Nicolau Neto, who sits at 5.71.
The two teams last faced off in the season opener for both teams with the Comets pulling away late for an 8-5 victory. Kevin Ellis was the star for Kansas City netting a hat-trick, all in the final quarter after the Comets had been clinging to a one-goal lead after three. Dallas will be looking for revenge this weekend aiming for a pair of road victories.
