Sibell Shuts the Door on Austin in a Shootout

Your Aberdeen Wings locked up an Exhibition Weekend Sweep of the Austin Bruins with a 3-2 shootout win last night at the Odde Ice Center. Jakob Breault got the Wings on the board in the first period with Korolev and Brandon assisting. The teams would head into the locker room with the Wings leading 1-0 and leading in shots on goal 16-3. Jake Beaune got the crowd on its feet in the 2nd when he took down the Bruins Stahl in a fight. Austin would answer on the scoreboard however when Chris Tamer threw a puck toward the net that hit off a stick on the ice and went in. Aberdeen would respond early in the 3rd period when Clayton Cosentino lit the lamp with Aughe & Murphy assisting. The Bruins Shudy was able to put in a rebound to once again tie the game midway through the 3rd period. The score would remain tied through regulation and the 5 minute overtime period. In the extended shootout Aughe and Powell would score for the Wings and Jake Sibell would stop all but 1 to give the Wings a 3-2 win. Throughout the game Jake stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced.

The Wings continue exhibition game play this Friday when they head North to take on The USHL Fargo Force. They return to the Odde Saturday September 14th to host the Force! Tickets are just $5 for GA and PAID season ticket holders receive FREE admission!
