Shutout Loss Knots Series

Frederick Keys News Release

The Frederick Keys could not rally after falling behind early in an 8-0 loss that evened the best-of-five series at a game apiece Friday night at Harry Grove Stadium. The Keys had their opportunities to score but stranded 11-men on base in the contest.

Frederick fell behind early due to the home run. Potomac RF Destin Hood worked a two-out walk in a ten-plus pitch at-bat and DH Brian Peacock then provided the big blast, a two-run home run to straight-away center field.

In the second inning it was more of the same. With two outs and nobody aboard 3B Jose Lozada worked a walk and CF Eury Perez lined a single to right field moving Lozada around to third base. Perez would steal second base but LF Francisco Soriano hit a line drive three-run home run to left field and the Keys were left staring at a 5-0 deficit. Peacock and Soriano had combined for just eight regular season home runs.

Frederick had opportunities throughout the night but could not break through. They battled Potomac starter Sammy Solis who had to leave after 4 and 2/3rd innings because of an elevated pitch count but could not bring a run home. The Keys had eight hits in the game but did not have multiple hits in an inning.

Keys reliever Ryan O'Shea struck out five consecutive batters at one point in his four innings of work. The keys got a multi-hit man from 3B Dale Mollenhauer who was 2-for-5 on the evening.

The Keys now turn to RHP Scott Copeland with the ever-important Game Three hanging in the balance. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. with coverage beginning 30-minutes prior on 1450-AM The Source. Keys Playoff tickets remain on-sale for future home dates via 1-877-8-GO-KEYS and frederickkeys.com.
