The Shuckers (11-10 second half, 52-39 overall) scored a single run in each of the first three innings against Jacksonville right-hander Max Duval (2-9). Center fielder Corey Ray led off the game with a walk, stole second and third bases and scored on second baseman Keston Hiura's RBI single - the first of his game-high four hits. Catcher Tyler Heineman hit a one-out solo home run to right field in the second inning, and Hiura hit a two-out solo home run to right field for a 3-0 lead.

The Jumbo Shrimp (9-13, 37-53) posted a four-run bottom of the third inning against Biloxi right-hander Thomas Jankins (9-5). Duval walked with two outs, right fielder Braxton Lee singled to right field, and center fielder Monte Harrison hit an RBI single to center field. Second baseman Isan Diaz homered for a second straight game, with a three-run shot to left field.

The 4-3 lead stood until the top of the sixth inning. Duval hit Hiura before allowing consecutive home runs to first baseman Jake Gatewood (to center field) and third baseman Lucas Erceg (to right field) for a 6-4 Biloxi lead. After retiring the next two batters, Duval allowed right fielder Trent Grisham's ground-rule double to right field before departing for right-hander Ryan Newell. Newell walked Jankins, and Ray hit a two-run double to left field that made it 8-4. Duval allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings, while Newell allowed the final run. Jumbo Shrimp left-hander Scott Squier pitched a scoreless seventh inning, and right-hander Kyle Keller went two shutout frames.

Jacksonville trimmed the deficit in the seventh inning. Third baseman Brian Schales singled, and catcher Sharif Othman hit a ground-rule double off Jankins. Pinch hitter J.C. Millan hit a sacrifice fly off right-hander Daniel Reynolds, and Lee had an RBI groundout. Harrison's bunt single and two walks loaded the bases, before Reynolds struck out shortstop Joe Dunand to hold the 8-6 lead. After Reynolds' scoreless eighth, right-hander Jon Olczak pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save. Harrison hit a two-out, ninth-inning single but was caught stealing at second base for the final out.
