Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Cranbrook, BC - The Edmonton Oil Kings will carry their 2-0 series lead into the home of the defending WHL Champions Wednesday night. Edmonton has pushed the play in the first two games and taken victories despite solid efforts from Kootenay goaltender Nathan Lieuwen. Edmonton goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been excellent this series with his first WHL playoff shutout and a .944 save percentage.
Rookie Curtis Lazar has posted four points to lead the team in playoff scoring. The Edmonton penalty kill is a perfect 8 for 8 through the first two games. The Oil Kings will also have some added firepower as Henrik Samuelsson will make his WHL playoff debut after serving a two game suspension.
The Oil Kings will face off against the Ice in Game 3 of their best of seven series at 7:00 PM MDT from the Cranbrook Rec Plex. Be sure to tune into Team 1260 for all the play by play from Corey Graham or log on to whl.ca for information on the WHL Live webcast.
IF the series is extended the Oil Kings will return to Rexall Place for Game 5 on Sunday April 1st. Game time would be set for a family friendly 2PM matinee matchup. Check back to oilkings.ca for ticket availability.
