Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Thunderous Rebound- The Wichita Thunder (4-3-1) jumped right back into the mix with a perfect 3-0 weekend, all against the Missouri Mavericks (2-3-2). The Thunder got off to a rough 1-3-1 start to the 2012-13 campaign but played a near-perfect game on Friday night at home against the Mavs shutting them out, 3-0. Kevin Regan made 25 saves earning his first shutout of the season. On Saturday in Missouri, the Thunder scored three straight power play goals to end the game with a 6-4 decision and then on Sunday, Kevin Young scored in overtime lifting his club to a 4-3 win. The trio of Chad Painchaud, Ian Lowe and Neil Trimm have helped carry the offense combining to score seven goals with 12 assists and a combined +12 plus/minus rating over their last three games. Wichita will ride their three game win streak into a pair of games against Rapid City (4-2-0) this weekend.   ;

2.) Denver Dominates- The expansion Denver Cutthroats were dominating this past weekend beating the Fort Worth Brahmas on Friday and Saturday night by a combined margin of 12-4. The Fish had lost three straight games after an opening night win. A.J. Gale continues to pace the offense with 12 points (5-7=12), second in the CHL. The Cutthroats are the least penalized team in the league averaging just less than 10 minutes per game (9.67). In Saturday's 7-1 win over Fort Worth, the Cutthroats and Brahmas combined for a penalty-free game. Denver travels to Arizona for a trio of games this week (Wed/Fri/Sat).

3.) "˜Special' Team- The Allen Americans have won three straight games and are in first place in the Berry Conference with a 6-1-0 record and a big reason for their success has been their strong special team's units. On the power play, the Americans are second in the league connecting at 27.9%. Their dozen power play goals are the most by one team and Scotty Howes three PPG's are tied for the most by an individual player. On the penalty kill, the Americans are tops in the CHL stopping 34 of 38 shorthanded chances (89.5%). Three of the four power play goals they have allowed this season came in one game (Oct. 31 vs. Tulsa). Allen plays at Quad City on Friday and Saturday.

By the Numbers

.971: The save percentage of Arizona goalie David Brown over his two games last week. Brown leads the CHL with a 2.01 goals against average and last week shutout the Fort Worth Brahmas on Halloween and then suffered a hard-luck loss in Rapid City, 2-1. Brown's .935 save percentage on the season leads the CHL as well.

One-Timers

-Bloomington saw their three game win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon in Quad City but the start for the Blaze is heads and tails better than what they experienced a year ago. Last season, the Blaze were 1-4-2 after seven games compared to their 5-2-0 start this season. David Gilbert was named the Oakley CHL Player of the Week on Monday thanks to his four goals and four assists last week. The Blaze will be tested this week as they play at Missouri on Friday and Saturday.

-Wichita's Chad Painchaud and Tulsa's Ben Gordon currently have the longest point streaks in the CHL this season at eight games. Painchaud has points in each of the Thunder's eight games totaling three goals with 10 assists and Gordon has five goals and four assists in the Oilers eight games thus far.

-The Fort Worth Brahmas suffered through a tough road trip going 0-4-0 while being outscored 20-6. The Brahmas return home this week to face the Tulsa Oilers on Friday and Saturday and Wichita on Sunday.

-The Rapid City Rush have fared well in the close ones this season going 3-0 in one-goal games. Rapid City was 13-11-6 in one-goal games last season.

-The series between the Missouri Mavericks and Wichita Thunder has become a bit one-sided with the Thunder taking all three games this past week and now boasting 10 wins in their last 11 meetings with the Mavs.
