Visalia Rawhide News Release

STOCKTON – Visalia stranded the tying run on base in the top of the sixth inning just minutes after Tony Miller's third home run of the season brought the Oaks to within one of Stockton, 6-5. The inning was completed during a heavy downpour that prompted the umpires to call for a delay in the game and the tarp was pulled over the infield. Following a delay of approximately 45 minutes, the rain slowed and eventually stopped, but the umpires called the game, making the score final.

Brian Barre's no out, two run home run put the Oaks in front 2-0 in the first inning, but Stockton tied the game 2-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Only one of the runs was charged as earned to Visalia starting pitcher Jeff Francis. G. J. Raymundo picked up an RBI on a ground ball to shortstop the skipped off the glove of Doug Bernier and into left field. Two runs scored on the play that occurred with one out.

Stockton moved in front 4-2 on a two-run homer by Raymundo in the third inning. Visalia trimmed the lead to 4-3 on Bryan Peck's RBI single in the fifth. The Ports amassed the 6-3 lead on back-to-back RBI doubles from Raymundo and Zack Roper in the bottom of the fifth.

Saturday: The Oaks and the Ports play the second game of the three game series at 7:05 p.m. LHP Zack Parker (1-1, 3.68 ERA) will be on the hill for the Oaks against RHP John Barnett (0-2, 3.48 ERA) for Stockton. The Radisson Pre Game Show will begin at 6:52 p.m. on AM 1270 KJUG.
